I have been asked a few times how I actually came to be on Create and Craft and what actually happens when you do a show, so I thought I would write about it here!

I approached Create & Craft back in June 2009 when I realised that there was a gap in their programming schedule just waiting for soaps and bath bombs to slot into :-)

I went to see them and showed them my ideas for the kits. They loved them and then the work started to get the kits ready for sale.

Then in October I had to go for a screen test, this was really nerve racking, I had all my ingredients with me. When I arrived I was seated in the Green Room and left to wait until they were ready for me. In there at the same time was Diane one of the papercraft software ladies. She was lovely and really put me at my ease. Then I was collected and taken through to the studio. I set my ingredients out and was introduced to the camera crew, Producer and then Ellis who was the presenter for the purpose of my test. They were all lovely but I was really nervous and my throat wouldn't work I kept drinking water and managed to croak my way through it!! Despite that they were pleased with me and I passed the test.

There were several attempts to get a date for my show before March but for one reason and another they didn't happen, lots of sleepless nights and stressful days but eventually we had a date and stock to sell :-)

Eventually March 6 arrives and at 9.30am I arrive at the studio. I have 2 hours to set my stall out and get ready for my show. Its wierd setting up with live shows going on around you and I am sure I made so much noise I definitely dropped more things than usual :-) The floor manager was John who was lovely and once I had arrived he had to look after me - I am not entirely sure if this was to make sure I didn't do a runner or for security reasons :-) He even escorted me to the bathroom!!

Time flew by and then it was my turn, Leoni (who thankfully is quite short) was my presenter for the hour I felt we clicked immediately and the whole hour flew by, my live demonstrations were the thing I was dreading most. I have made hundreds probably thousands of soaps and bath bombs but never on tv, the soap demonstration went well but the bath bomb was a little more problematical, the heat of the lights meant that I needed loads more water than I would normally need and I got carried away stirring and forgot where I was!!

I could see the monitors but didn't look unless I held anything for the camera to see.

Oooh there I am!!

I thoughly enjoyed my show and was delighted that my products were so well received. There were supposed to be repeats but being as those some products sold out completely there was just the one show. My next show on 26th April and is part of the Create & Craft birthday celebration event. I will be bringing back the kits that sold out and changing some of the ingredients slightly. Look out for the moulds I have  a lovely mould lady and can bring you some lovely designs.

My story was picked up by the local paper who interviewed my for a slot in the business section of the North Devon Journal. I was more than surprised to be told I was on the front page!! I walked into Tesco's to be confronted by a display of Journals all with my smiling face on the front!!

North Devon Journal

Its amazing how many people saw it!!
